Birth Planning
Birth Planning
We often touch on birth as we navigate antenatal care, but as such a pivotal and important moment in childbearing it very much demands dedicated time and space to discuss.
As midwives we have supported hundreds of people during labour and birth. We've facilitated home births by candlelight, midwifery unit pool births, hospital births in medical settings, supported instrumental births, and been right there alongside those birthing by caesarean section. We've advocated and fought for our client's birth wishes again and again, and we enable safe, informed, powerful birth experiences. We also understand the complexities of 'planning' birth when in reality nothing feels certain.
Our birth planning support includes birth education to give you a broad understanding of all the options. We'll gather some initial information about you, your pregnancy, and your preferences allowing us to prepare in advance of meeting you. In your appointment there will be opportunity to ask questions, explore topics of interest, and discuss the evidence base for your care. Finally, we'll compile your preferences, plans and any individualised care requirements into a birth plan document that you can then keep and circulate to your care providers.
We provide three levels of birth planning support and you can choose whichever best suits your situation.
